Dear Dad – AI-Driven Animation Proof-of-Concept
Project Overview
“Dear Dad” is a proof-of-concept short film created by Secret Level and directed by Jason Zada. Developed over the 2024 holiday season, this project showcases the power of AI-driven animation, combining human creativity with cutting-edge technology.
CES 2025 Presentation
Presented at CES 2025 in Las Vegas during the panel “The Hollywood Trajectory: Generative AI Timeline 2025 – 2030”, “Dear Dad” demonstrates the versatility and efficiency of AI in the animation pipeline. The film was produced from start to finish in just two weeks, a process that would traditionally take months.
This project perfectly exemplifies how generative AI can amplify artistic vision, accelerating production workflows while allowing creatives to explore new storytelling possibilities. By leveraging AI tools, we could create a fully animated short in a fraction of the time, without compromising artistic quality or emotional depth.
The collaboration between international AI artists, animators, and storytellers made it possible to bring this unique concept to life in record time. “Dear Dad” is a testament to the transformative potential of AI in the creative industry, proving that technology is not here to replace artistry but to enhance it.
My Contribution to the Project
For Dear Dad, I was responsible for the design and animation of scenes set in Candyland and underwater environments. My focus was on creating visually cohesive AI-generated imagery, ensuring that the characters maintained consistency across different shots.
To achieve this, I dedicated significant time to refining prompts that would produce a stop-motion aesthetic, making the characters appear as if they were handcrafted from various materials. This involved both extensive research and iterative testing to fine-tune the AI’s response and ensure the desired artistic effect.

“Dear Dad” è un cortometraggio proof-of-concept creato da Secret Level e diretto da Jason Zada. Sviluppato durante le festività del 2024, questo progetto dimostra il potenziale dell’animazione generata con AI, combinando la creatività umana con tecnologie all’avanguardia.

Grazie agli strumenti AI, è stato possibile realizzare un corto animato completo in una frazione del tempo, senza sacrificare qualità artistica o profondità emotiva.
La collaborazione tra artisti AI internazionali, animatori e narratori ha reso possibile la realizzazione di questo progetto in tempi record. Dear Dad è la prova concreta del potenziale trasformativo dell’AI nell’industria creativa, dimostrando che la tecnologia non sostituisce l’arte, ma la potenzia.
Il Mio Contributo al Progetto
Per Dear Dad, mi sono occupata della progettazione e dell’animazione delle scene ambientate in Candyland e negli scenari sottomarini. Il mio obiettivo era creare immagini AI visivamente coerenti, garantendo che i personaggi mantenessero uniformità stilistica tra i diversi frame.
Per ottenere questo risultato, ho dedicato molto tempo alla ricerca e all’ottimizzazione dei prompt, affinché l’AI restituisse uno stile simile alla stop-motion, dando ai personaggi un aspetto artigianale, come se fossero stati realizzati a mano con materiali differenti. Questo ha richiesto un processo iterativo e una sperimentazione costante per perfezionare la resa visiva desiderata.
